Today, on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over the first batch of the latest Ukrainian-made drone missiles called Peklo to the Defence Forces. This event was an important step in strengthening the country’s defence capabilities, Ukrinform reports.

The Peklo drone missiles are a fundamentally new type of weapon developed by domestic specialists. It is known that their maximum range is 700 km and their speed is 700 km/h. To date, five successful combat uses of this weapon have been recorded.

For security reasons, the number of units transferred and detailed technical specifications remain classified. At the same time, the ceremony stressed that the drone missiles are as effective as some types of Russian cruise missiles, but are much cheaper to produce.

“Today we are not only defending our land, but also building the future of our defence industry. Our own production of modern weapons is our response to the challenges of war,” the President said in his speech.

The event was also attended by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov, Minister of Strategic Industries German Smetanin, his deputy Anna Hvozdyar and Presidential Advisor on Strategic Issues Oleksandr Kamyshin.

The launch of the Peklo drone missiles into mass production demonstrates that Ukraine is actively developing its own military-industrial complex, relying on innovations and international experience.
