President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a three-year plan to supply modern IRIS-T air defence systems agreed with the German government. He made the announcement during a joint press conference with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius in Kyiv.
“We are grateful for the delivery of IRIS-T air defence systems. This is a plan for the next three years. This does not mean that the war will last as long, but Ukraine must be defended with high-quality air defence systems,” the Head of State stressed.
The President also said that Germany would significantly increase financial support for the Ukrainian defence industry in 2025. In particular, they discussed additional investments in the production of long-range drones and missiles both in Ukraine and in the framework of joint production in Germany.
“We are talking about supporting our long-range capabilities: Ukrainian drones and missile technology. We are very grateful for the increase in funding for such projects,” Zelensky said.
As a reminder, Germany’s aid to Ukraine in 2024 has already reached €7 billion, and the German government is considering allocating almost €2 billion more.
