On the night of 29 November, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine with 132 drones, including Shahed attack drones and unidentified drones. Ukrainian air defence forces neutralised 88 of them. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
Details of the attack
The drones were launched from the territory of Orel, Millerovo, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. The enemy drones were aimed at Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.
They were involved in repelling the attack:
- aviation,
- anti-aircraft missile units,
- electronic warfare (EW) equipment,
- mobile firing groups of the Air Force and other units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
As of 09:00, the defenders had destroyed 88 drones. According to representatives of the Air Force:
- 41 drones lost control and were neutralized due to active countermeasures of electronic warfare,
- 1 drone returned to the territory of the Russian Federation.
This attack was another attempt by Russia to deplete Ukraine’s air defences. However, the well-coordinated work of Ukrainian forces once again demonstrated their high efficiency in repelling such threats.
