On the night of 18 January, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully attacked a Rosneft oil depot in the village of Lyudinovo in the Kaluga region of Russia. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Telegram channel.

Oil depot as a logistics hub
According to the General Staff, the attacked base is part of the Kaluganefteprodukt structure and is an important logistics centre that supplies Russian army units involved in the war against Ukraine.

“As a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the territory of the base. Details on the results of the attack are currently being clarified,” the statement said.

Fire as a result of the attack
After the attack, a large-scale fire broke out on the territory of the facility. Russian official sources have not yet provided detailed information on the extent of the damage or potential losses.

A strike behind enemy lines
This attack was yet another proof of the effectiveness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operations at strategically important targets in Russia’s deep rear. Such strikes are aimed at reducing the enemy’s ability to supply resources to the frontline.

The Ukrainian military stresses that such operations will continue as long as Russia continues its aggression against Ukraine.
