The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to engage in active combat in eight frontline areas, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports in a summary as of 16:00 on 9 December. Since the beginning of the day, 102 combat engagements have been recorded, including in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. The occupants are most active in the Pokrovsk sector.
An overview of combat operations by area:
- Kharkiv sector:
Three firefights were registered near Hlyboke and Vovchansk. One enemy attack is ongoing. - Kupiansk direction:
Russian troops attempted to advance twice in the areas of Lozova and Zahryzove. One attack was successfully repelled, and active fighting continues. - Liman sector:
There were 10 hostilities in the areas of Hrekivka, Zelenyi Hai, Nadiya, Makiivka, Torske and Yampolivka. Six clashes remain active. - Toretsk direction:
The enemy attacked Ukrainian positions six times near Toretsk and Nelipivka. Four attacks were repelled, and two battles are ongoing. - Pokrovske direction:
The most intense fighting. The Ukrainian Armed Forces recorded 29 attacks, 24 of which were repelled near Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Promin, Dachenske, Chumatske and Shevchenko. The enemy suffers significant losses. - Kurakhove direction:
Ukrainian troops repelled 16 attacks in the area of Sontsivka, Staryi Terny, Zorya, Dalne, Dachne and Kurakhove. Nine battles are still ongoing. - Vremivsk direction:
Russian troops attacked 14 times in the direction of Kostyantynopil, Novosilka and near Storozheve. Five battles are ongoing. - Prydniprovskyi direction:
Occupants made three attacks, but were fiercely rebuffed. - Kursk region:
Six attacks by the Russian military are repelled by Ukrainian troops. A total of nine firefights were recorded in the region.
Situation at the front: resilience and success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The Pokrovsk sector remains the most tense, where Ukrainian defenders demonstrate a high level of efficiency, repelling most of the enemy’s attacks. Meanwhile, in other parts of the frontline, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to deter aggression and inflict losses on the occupiers.
The General Staff emphasises that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are steadfastly holding the line, repelling enemy attempts to seize strategic territories.
