The Ukrainian military successfully repelled an attack by Russian occupiers in Kharkiv region, destroying a convoy of armoured vehicles of the so-called “elite” Kantemyriv Tank Division of the Russian Federation. This was reported on 8 February by the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, which took part in the battle.

According to Ukrainian defenders, Russian troops tried to break through the defences in the area of Pervomaiske. They attacked with a convoy of tanks, infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and buggies.

“The first two BMPs were destroyed on the crossing – the vehicles simply drowned. Next, FPV drones were used to attack the convoy in motion. The Russian infantry was forced to disembark, but was killed by artillery and drone drops. The occupiers even tried to evacuate their damaged armoured vehicles, but the Ukrainian military destroyed the armoured repair and evacuation vehicle (BREV),” the brigade said.

In total, the battle resulted in the destruction of the entire unit:

  • 10 units of armoured vehicles
  • 10 occupants eliminated
  • Another 30 were injured

The 3rd Brigade also released a video of the defeat of another Russian armored column near Vyshneve.
