Over the past day, 28 December, the frontline became the scene of 158 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and Russian invaders. The situation was most intense in the Pokrovsk sector, where Ukrainian troops repelled 54 attacks. This is stated in the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday, 29 December.

Hot spots on the frontline

• Kharkiv sector: three combat engagements took place near Vovchansk.
• Kupianske direction: four enemy attacks were repelled in the vicinity of Hlushkivka and Lozova.
• Inthe Liman sector, 21 clashes were recorded, with the main fighting taking place near Hrekivka, Pershotravneve, Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, Terny, Kopanky, Novoyehorivka, Novoplatonivka and Makiivka.
• Kramatorsk direction: Ukrainian forces repelled 14 attacks near Stupochky and Chasovyi Yar.
• In theToretsk sector, the enemy tried to break through the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defences seven times in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.
• Pokrovske sector: the highest enemy activity was recorded – 54 attacks. Russian troops were active near Zelene Pole, Kalynove, Uspenivka, Vovkove, Novoyelizavetivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Dachanske, Zelene, Pokrovsk, Novyi Trud, Pershyi May and Shevchenko.
• Kurakhove direction: the enemy made 22 attempts to break through near Petropavlivka, Ukrainka, Kurakhove and Dachne.
• Vremivka sector: 15 attacks in the areas of Kostiantynopilske, Velyka Novosilka, Vremivka and Yantarne.
• Inthe Dnipro sector, one attack was repelled.

Russians did not conduct any active operations on the Siverskyi, Huliaypillia and Orikhivske directions.

Counter-attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Missile troops and artillery inflicted significant losses on the enemy:

• two fuel and lubricant warehouses were destroyed,
• strikes were carried out on two areas where enemy forces were concentrated,
• the UAV control centre and two important Russian targets were hit.

The Ukrainian defenders continue to demonstrate steadfastness and effectively deter the enemy’s attempts to break through the defence.
