On the night of 14 December, the Ukrainian Defence Forces successfully attacked one of Russia’s largest oil product terminals in Oryol. This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The operation was carried out by units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with other components of the Defence Forces of Ukraine. The attack targeted the Stalnyi Kony line production control station (LPDS). The attack resulted in a massive fire that engulfed a large part of the facility.
The Stalnyi Kony LODS is an important part of the Russian military-industrial complex. The station supplies petroleum products for the needs of the Russian army, in particular for military operations against Ukraine. The destruction of this facility caused significant damage to the logistical capabilities of the Russian army.
This is not the first time that strategically important facilities in Russia have been hit. The Ukrainian military is increasingly using precision strikes against key infrastructure that supports the Kremlin’s military operations.
This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces and the coherence of the interaction between all components of Ukraine’s defence sector.
The Russian side has not yet commented on the consequences of the strike, but the video of the fire is being actively shared on social media.
The defeat of the Stalnyi Kony LCS will not only complicate the supply of the Russian army, but will also create additional pressure on the Russian military-industrial complex. This would exacerbate Russia’s internal problems, particularly in the areas of logistics and energy security.
