Over the past day, 8 January, 192 combat engagements took place at the frontline, with the most intense fighting taking place in the Kursk region, where the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled 48 attacks by Russian invaders. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its official Facebook page.
Overview of the areas of combat operations
- Kursk region: the largest number of attacks – 48. The fighting here does not stop.
- Kharkiv sector: the enemy made 4 attacks in the area of Vovchansk.
- Kupyansk sector: 12 attacks were repelled near Holubivka, Zahryzove and Petropavlivka.
- Liman direction: the occupants attacked 17 times in the areas of Nadiya, Kopanky, Novoyehorivka, Ivanivka and Terniv.
- Northern sector: the enemy made two attempts to advance in the vicinity of Bilohorivka.
- Kramatorsk sector: three occupants’ attacks near Bila Hora.
- Toretsk sector: six attacks near Toretsk and Diliyivka.
- Pokrovske sector: the most active – 42 assault attacks near Myrolyubivka, Baranivka and Yelizavetivka.
- Kurakhove sector: 38 attacks were recorded in the areas of Dachne, Kurakhove, Shevchenko and Petropavlivka.
- Vremivsk sector: 16 attacks were repelled in the areas of Novosilka, Yantarne and Kostiantynivske.
- Dnipro sector: the enemy attacked three times.
The steadfastness of Ukrainian defence
Ukraine’s defence forces continue to successfully deter the aggressor in various parts of the frontline. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine notes the enemy’s high activity, but Ukrainian defenders demonstrate steadfastness and professionalism in defending their territories from the occupation forces.
Fighting in the Kursk region and other areas remains intense, but Ukrainian troops are holding their ground, inflicting significant losses on Russian forces.
