On the night of 11-12 January, Russian troops launched a massive attack on Ukraine, launching 94 attack drones, including Shahed and simulator drones, from the directions of Millerovo, Orel, Bryansk and Kursk. The defence forces managed to shoot down 60 UAVs, and another 34 imitator drones were lost without any negative consequences, the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
Successes of Ukraine’s defenders
We managed to repel the attack thanks to our coordinated work:
- aviation;
- anti-aircraft missile troops;
- electronic warfare units;
- mobile firing groups of the Air Force and Defence Forces.
Affected areas
Enemy drones were shot down in Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi and Donetsk regions.
Several buildings in Kharkiv, Sumy and Poltava regions were damaged by the falling wreckage of downed UAVs. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.
