The Ukrainian Defence Forces are demonstrating phenomenal results in the use of unmanned systems. In December, Ukrainian Armed Forces drone operators hit more than 54,000 enemy targets, 49% of which were kamikaze drones. This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, on Facebook.
Leading divisions
Among the military units that have shown the highest efficiency are the following:
- 46th Airmobile Brigade,
- 57th Motorised Infantry Brigade,
- 28th Mechanised Brigade,
- 35th Marine Brigade,
- 3rd Assault Brigade.
The Unmanned Systems Regiment under the command of Major Robert Brovdi was particularly recognised for demonstrating leadership in drone performance and survivability.
The growing role of unmanned systems
The Commander-in-Chief emphasised the increased use of drones in combat:
“The Russians are using more fibre-optic strike UAVs, but our fibre-optic FPV drones are becoming a worthy response.”
These systems effectively neutralise enemy vehicles even while they are moving.
Kamikaze drones as the basis for success
Almost half of the result was achieved by kamikaze drones, which have become a key weapon of destruction. The high efficiency of these systems makes it possible to significantly reduce the enemy’s combat power.
