President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that all participants in the SBU’s large-scale special operation called “The Web” had been successfully removed from the territory of the Russian Federation. He said this in a post on Facebook.
The Head of State noted that he had heard a report from the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk on the operation. Zelenskyy called it “an absolutely brilliant result” and stressed that it was a completely independent operation of Ukraine, which had been planned for a year, six months and nine days.
“This is our most far-reaching operation. Our people who were preparing the operation were withdrawn from Russian territory in time,” the President stressed.
Zelenskyy thanked General Malyuk for the successful implementation of the special operation and instructed the SBU to prepare public information about its results, which do not constitute a state secret. He also added that Ukraine’s actions “will definitely go down in the history books”.
On 1 June, the SBU struck four strategic airfields of the Russian Federation – Belaya, Diagilevo, Olenya and Ivanovo. According to official information, the operation resulted in the destruction of more than 40 enemy aircraft, including A-50 reconnaissance and Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 strategic bombers. The estimated cost of the destroyed Russian aircraft is about seven billion dollars.
