Russian troops launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine on Christmas Day, firing more than 70 missiles and 100 attack drones. This was reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram on Wednesday, 25 December.

“Every Russian massive attack takes time to prepare. It is never a spontaneous decision. It is a conscious choice not only of targets, but also of time and date. Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas to attack. What could be more inhuman?” the President noted.

The scale of the attack and its consequences

According to Zelenskyy, the shells fired included both ballistic missiles and attack drones. The main target of the attack was again Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

“They continue to fight for a blackout in Ukraine,” the head of state added.

It is known that the Ukrainian air defence forces managed to shoot down more than 50 missiles and a significant number of drones. However, there have been hits in several regions of the country, causing power outages.

Gratitude to the defenders

The President thanked the military, power engineers and everyone working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

“We will restore the maximum. The Russian evil will not break Ukraine and will not distort Christmas,” Zelenskyy stressed.

Ukraine continues to stand up to Russian terror, demonstrating resilience and unity even in the most difficult moments.
