Thursday, 6 February 2025, is the 489th day of the Iron Swords war, which Israel is waging against terrorist groups in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, as well as in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. This was reported by the Time Ukraine Israel portal, citing the Israeli edition of Newsru.
On 19 January, the ceasefire in Gaza came into force and hostilities in the sector temporarily ceased. At the same time, on 21 January, Operation Iron Wall was launched in Samaria. The IDF continues to control southern Lebanon and the “buffer zone” in Syria.
Timeline of events on 6 February 2025
12:00 – IDF conducts operations in Tamoun, south of Tubas. According to sources in the Palestinian Authority (PA), Israeli forces are also operating in Tul Karem, particularly in the Balauneh area.
11:00 – Israeli forces conduct an operation in the village of Dura al-Qara, north of Ramallah.
10:00 – Israeli UAV strikes a target in Tamun.
09:00 – The name of the second soldier killed on the night of 6 February by a crane collapse in the ‘buffer zone’ in the northern Gaza Strip is released. He is Staff Sergeant Nahman Raphael Ben-Ami, 20, from Eilat, a member of the 51st Battalion, Golani Brigade.
08:00 – The death of Reserve Staff Sergeant Nadav Cohen, 21, from Beit Hanan, also a member of the 51st Golani Battalion, is reported. Another soldier was seriously injured. The IDF press service initially stated that the soldiers were killed in action, but later clarified that the cause was a crane collapse, likely due to stormy weather.
07:00 – PA sources report armed clashes in Silat al-Harithiya, northwest of Jenin.
05:00 – The Red Cross reports three wounded Palestinians at the al-Hamra checkpoint near Tubas.
04:00 – Additional IDF forces have entered Shechem, conducting operations in the Balata camp and Krum Ashur area, and several suspects have been detained. Operations also continue in Salem, east of Shechem.
03:00 – In Burqin, west of Jenin, Israeli forces detained one of the militant commanders, Mahmoud Abu Khalif, known as “Jamaica”.
02:00 – Explosion in Tul Karem, Artakh district. PA sources suggest that it was the result of an Israeli operation.
01:00 – Israeli forces detain terror suspects in Al-Faraa refugee camp, south of Tubas.
00:00 – The Red Crescent reports the death of three people in the Rafah area as a result of an Israeli operation. At the same time, PA sources report large-scale IDF operations in the eastern neighbourhoods of Shechem, as well as the deployment of additional units to Tul Karem.
Despite the temporary cessation of hostilities in Gaza, IDF operations in Judea and Samaria continue. The military detains suspected terrorists, conducts strikes against targets and tightens control in strategic areas. Meanwhile, the tragedy in Gaza, where a crane collapse killed Israeli soldiers, highlights the dangers soldiers face on the frontline every day.
