DUBAI/JERUSALEM, Reuters 18 October – The killing of Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader and mastermind of the attacks that sparked the current conflict in Gaza, was a significant victory for Israel. This event opens a new chapter in the region’s strategic game. According to eight sources from the highest echelons of power, Israel is not only seeking to use this situation for military dominance, but also to reform the political landscape in the Middle East.

With the US elections approaching, Israel is trying to weaken Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon as much as possible by creating de facto buffer zones. These steps, according to analysts, are aimed at creating an “irreversible reality” before the inauguration of the new US president.

According to diplomats and officials, the intensification of military operations against Hezbollah and Hamas demonstrates Israel’s desire to protect its citizens from a possible renewed threat from these groups and their main patron, Iran.
