Over the past three days, Russian troops have been conducting a major counter-offensive in the Kursk region to drive Ukrainian forces out of this strategic region. According to experts, Russia has assembled around 50,000 soldiers, including some from North Korea. Despite the large resources that have been concentrated in this operation, heavy losses for the Russian Armed Forces are already evident, TimeUkraineIsrael reports with reference to BILD.
Failure and huge losses:
Instead of gaining a strategic advantage, Russia was unable to make significant headway and managed to retake only two small villages in three days: Pogrebky and Daryino. According to BILD analyst Julian Röpke, despite all efforts, Russian troops suffered catastrophic losses. Russia lost 28 armoured vehicles, including the latest BTR-82A armoured personnel carriers, and more than 200 soldiers killed or wounded.
Results of the counter-offensive:
These losses are a heavy blow to the Russian army, as every piece of equipment and every soldier is of great value in modern warfare. Given that the operation lasted only a few days and the outcome was so disappointing for the Kremlin, we can talk about a real disaster for the Russian military command.
Julian Röpke emphasises that this failure is not just a tactical blunder, but a serious strategic defeat for President Vladimir Putin and his generals. The huge loss of equipment and human resources casts doubt on the effectiveness of further Russian offensive operations in Ukraine.
