Today marks the 482nd day of the Iron Swords war, which Israel is waging against terrorist groups in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, as well as Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. The ceasefire in Gaza, which came into force on 19 January, has been in effect for 12 days. However, fighting continues on other fronts. Operations in Shechem and the release of hostages
16:00 – In a special operation in Shechem, fighters of the Yamam anti-terrorist unit eliminated terrorist Qassem Aklik, who was planning new attacks on Israeli targets. The operation was carried out based on intelligence from the Shabak. Aklik, armed with a pistol, tried to escape, but the soldiers opened fire to kill him.
14:00 – Seven more hostages are released. Among them are 29-year-old Arbel Yehud, 80-year-old Gadi Moses, and five Thai citizens.
12:00 – According to Palestinian sources, Israeli soldiers wounded and detained a local militant in Shema.
Escalation on the border with Lebanon
11:00 – An Israeli air defence system intercepted a Hezbollah reconnaissance drone in the Kiryat Shmona area. There was no air raid alert.
06:00 – Israeli aircraft strike at Hezbollah engineering equipment in southern Lebanon, which was used to rebuild terrorist infrastructure. The military stressed that such attempts are a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
IDF operations in Judea and Samaria
09:00 – The military has set up additional checkpoints and stepped up security measures ahead of the release of hundreds of terrorists as part of a hostage swap. Preventive arrests of extremists were also made to prevent mass unrest.
07:00 – Eight suspected militants are detained in Tul Karem.
05:00 – Israeli forces open fire in Khan Younis in southern Gaza. The apartment of terrorist Jamal Abu Haniyeh, who was involved in the murder of an Israeli citizen, is blown up in Qalqilya.
03:00-00:00 – Operations in Daisha, Al-Ubaidiya, Jenin, Asir al-Shamaliya and other areas. The military eliminated several facilities used by militants.
