Today, the IDF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Gertzi Halevi, held a meeting with the heads of northern municipalities to discuss the plan to return local residents to their homes and ensure security in the north. The meeting was attended by the commander of the Northern Command, the commander of the Home Front Command and the head of the Planning Department, as well as representatives of the municipalities of Kiryat Shmona, Upper Galilee, Mevot HaHermon, Ma’ale Yosef and Shlomi. This was reported by TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to the IDF press service .
Safe return as a symbol of victory
During the meeting, General Khalevi stressed that “the best symbol of our victory will be the safe return of the residents to the north”. According to him, this will be the main indicator of success and stability in the region, towards which the army intends to move together with local communities. The IDF, according to the Chief of the General Staff, is actively destroying Hezbollah’s infrastructure, which was established in 2006, and is taking all necessary measures to prevent its restoration in the future.
A new era for the north: rebuilding and improving infrastructure
General Halevi also stressed the importance of an organised approach to planning: “We want to ensure that the return of the residents means a new beginning, with better living conditions than before the war.” He noted that meetings with the military on the front line made him proud of the common noble goal of ensuring the safe return of people home.
Tough response to violations of peace agreements
Halevi reiterated that the IDF has the right to defend itself and will respond to violations of diplomatic agreements with decisive action. “If there are violations of any agreement, we will act with force to restore security,” he stressed. In addition, Khalevi noted the high level of coordination between the army and local authorities during the war, which was one of the most effective examples of cooperation.
This meeting was an important step in the process of rebuilding the region and ensuring peaceful life for residents who dream of returning to their homes in safe conditions.
