As cursorinfo reports, recent events on the Lebanese-Israeli border have once again drawn attention to the actions of the Hezbollah armed group. In this context, their announcement of the first use of a new missile called “Fadi-3” is of particular importance. These events raise questions about possible changes in the military dynamics of the region.
Israeli airstrikes in response to new weapons
According to the information provided by the Lebanese News Agency, in response to Hezbollah’s statement about the first use of the Fadi-3, Israel carried out a series of airstrikes in southern Lebanon, near the city of Metula. This indicates increased tension in relations between the two parties and may indicate possible escalation of the conflict.
Characteristics and development of the Hezbollah missile program
The Fadi-3 missile is the latest modification of the Fadi family of missiles previously used by Hezbollah. Previously, versions of “Fadi-1” and “Fadi-2” were launched, each of which has its own characteristics:
- “Fadi-1”: diameter 220 mm, length about 6 meters, warhead weighing 83 kg and flight range up to 70 km.
- “Fadi-2”: diameter 302 mm, also 6 meters long, warhead 170 kg and range up to 100 km.
These missiles were already used during the Second Lebanon War in 2006, which raises questions about the novelty and real progress in their development.
Local production and operational flexibility
Boaz Shapira, an expert from the Alma research center, noted that despite the new names, these missiles are not completely new types of weapons. According to him, the use of new names may indicate local production in Lebanon, which reduces dependence on Syrian production facilities.
In addition, both types of missiles can be launched from mobile and stationary platforms. This makes their deployment more flexible and stealthy, making them harder to detect before launch. Videos released by Hezbollah show the missiles being transported on light trucks, highlighting their mobility.
Psychological pressure on Israel
A month ago, Hezbollah released a video showing a large area of land belonging to the organization. Experts believe that this video serves as a means of psychological pressure on Israel. It also shows trucks prepared to launch Imad-4 rockets that can reach any point inside Israel.
The development of Hezbollah’s missile program, including the launch of the Fada-3, is causing serious concern in both Lebanon and Israel. New technologies and the possibility of local production of missiles can change the balance of power in the region and lead to further escalation of the conflict. Continued monitoring of Hezbollah’s actions and Israel’s response will be critical to assessing future threats and security dynamics in this troubled region.
