Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Wednesday that Hezbollah’s ability to defend Lebanon against aggression should not be underestimated, assuring that the group’s ally is capable of destroying Israel’s bases and settlements, reports EFE.
“We should never underestimate Hezbollah’s ability to defend Lebanon from any aggression,” wrote Araghchi on the X platform while in New York for the UN General Assembly.
Araghchi emphasized that the Lebanese militia’s strength lies in its popular support and its own capabilities. Hezbollah, he claimed, “is more than capable of destroying the bases and colonies of the Israeli regime.”
However, he also called on the Arab and Islamic world to fulfill their “duty” and confront Israel, which Iran considers its sworn enemy.
Iran is one of Hezbollah’s main allies and leads the so-called Axis of Resistance, an informal anti-Israel alliance that includes the Lebanese group, the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, among others.
