The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reported a series of air strikes over the past hour against rocket launchers targeting settlements in northern Israel from southern Lebanon. According to official information, Israeli fighter jets attacked 15 rocket launchers used to fire at civilians, including those firing rockets towards the Western Galilee.
The strikes also targeted terrorist infrastructure used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. IDF officials say that these actions are a response to rocket attacks that threaten the safety of Israeli citizens.
An important context is that tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese border have been rising in recent weeks. “Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has long used southern Lebanon as a springboard for attacks against Israel, and such attacks undermine stability in the region, endangering civilians and increasing the risk of conflict escalation.
The Israeli Defence Forces emphasise that they will continue to respond to any threats from Hezbollah in order to protect their citizens. At the same time, the international community expresses concern about the possibility of the conflict expanding, calling on the parties to exercise restraint and resolve the situation diplomatically.
The situation in the region remains tense, and further actions by the parties may have a significant impact on the security of not only Israel but the entire Middle East.
