The war against Ukraine, which has been going on for almost two years, has recently seen new participants on Russia’s side – military personnel from North Korea. The presence of the North Korean military in the Kharkiv region
Kishak said on the air of the United News telethon that DPRK troops are already at the front lines, strengthening the front lines in the Kharkiv sector. “We can see that there are already soldiers from the DPR in our area,” the commander said, adding that he could not disclose the exact number of newly arrived troops. However, he noted that the North Korean soldiers are dividing into units and reinforcing the combat groups on the front line.
The enemy’s actions and future outlook
Kishak also spoke about the enemy’s tactics, noting that Russia continues to focus on so-called “meat assaults” – attacks carried out with manpower. He stressed that the enemy could launch a new wave of attacks in the face of deteriorating weather conditions. Also, according to Kishak, the technical equipment of North Korean troops is limited to a few tanks and motorbikes, and the main role is played by pick-up trucks, which are destroyed by Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv sector.
Developments in the situation: the presence of North Korean troops
The involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine was reported earlier. On 18 October, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that about 11,000 soldiers from the DPRK were training in eastern Russia. At the same time, on 28 October, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed the redeployment of North Korean troops to the Kursk region of Russia, and later it turned out that these troops were armed with infantry equipment, including mortars, assault rifles, machine guns and rifles.
Completion of the agreement between Russia and the DPRK
