The Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida has published new details of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, which includes three important steps to end the long-running conflict in the Gaza Strip. A senior Hamas official told the French news agency AFP: “We are ready for a cessation of hostilities”, TimeUkraineIsrael portal reports with reference to Maariv.

First stage: humanitarian solution

The first phase of the agreement focuses on an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Rafah crossing. In return, Hamas undertakes to release all Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip. For its part, Israel agrees to release 3,000 Palestinian prisoners, including 300 senior criminals.

The second stage: changing the military landscape

The second stage of the agreement provides for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Netzer axis. At this stage, it is planned to exchange most of the bodies abducted during the conflict, as well as to withdraw Hamas militants to Egypt through the Rafah crossing. This will allow for the deployment of Palestinian Authority forces, backed by international and Arab troops.

Third stage: final settlement

The third phase of the agreement provides for the final withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Philadelphi axis and the northern part of the Gaza Strip. This phase will also include the exchange of residual bodies between the parties, including that of Yahya Sinwar, a former Hamas leader who was killed in action during the conflict.

Diplomatic efforts and hopes for peace

Currently, the number of living abducted Israelis does not exceed 25 people, most of whom are civilians. Qatar and Egypt hope that Hamas will accept this agreement to stop the hostilities and provide humanitarian aid. Hamas has also expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Palestinian Authority after the end of the conflict.

The importance of an immediate cessation of hostilities is underscored by the recent visit of a Hamas delegation to Cairo to discuss American and Egyptian peace proposals. A senior Hamas official also noted that they are ready for negotiations, but demand that Israel comply with the terms of the agreement.

This agreement could be an important step towards stability in the region, allowing for the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip to be restored and the long-running conflicts to end. Further negotiations could lead to greater understanding between the parties, which in turn would contribute to peace in the region.
