Russian air defence shot down 47 drones launched from the territory of Ukraine on Tuesday night. This was reported by the Russian Ministry of Defence on 9 October, Reuters reported, citing the Russian state news agency RIA.

According to the Russian authorities, there were no casualties.

According to the ministry, 24 drones were destroyed in the Bryansk region of southwestern Russia, near the border with Ukraine. The remaining drones were shot down in the regions of Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov, Krasnodar and over the Sea of Azov.

Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev said that the wreckage of one of the drones caused a fire in the desert area, which was quickly extinguished.

The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, also confirmed that emergency services were working at the site of the crash, but did not specify whether any damage had been caused.
