Russia launches ballistic missile attack on Odesa Photo: State Emergency Service of Odesa region
On the night of 11 October, Russian troops launched a ballistic missile attack on Odesa, killing four people and injuring ten others. This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.
The shelling destroyed a two-storey building in Odesa district where civilians lived and worked. People were trapped under the rubble. Among the dead were a 43-year-old woman, a 22-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl. Another woman died in hospital from her injuries.
Rescuers managed to pull four people out of the rubble. Ten more people were injured, nine of whom were hospitalised, four of them in serious condition. In addition, ten people received psychological assistance at the scene.
The rescue operations were complicated by the repeated air raid alert. The rescuers were joined by medics, police, Red Cross representatives and volunteers. Dog handlers were involved in the search operations.
