Criminal proceedings have been initiated over the killing of civilians in the town of Selidovo and the shooting of a civilian car. This is reported by TimeUkraineIsrael, citing the telegram channel of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Pre-trial investigation

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office in the case of violation of the laws and customs of war (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This demonstrates a serious approach to the crimes committed by the aggressor against the Ukrainian population.

Events on 24 October

On 27 October 2024, several Telegram channels published information about the killings committed by the occupiers in Selidovo. The video shows representatives of the aggressor state’s troops allegedly shooting a civilian car with automatic weapons. At the time of the attack, there were two citizens in the car; one of them was injured. Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel who arrived at the scene provided first aid to the victim and evacuated the civilians from the area of fire.

The dead and the testimonies

In addition, according to media reports, two women were killed in the city. Internet resources indicate that the bodies of dead civilians are found in the private sector area, which has not been subjected to active hostilities. This raises serious questions, as the killings apparently occurred after these areas were seized by the occupier.

Further actions

Urgent investigative actions and search activities are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the events and identify the victims. The society is waiting for the results of the investigation and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

This tragedy not only highlights the brutality of the aggressor, but also underscores the need to protect the rights of civilians in the conflict zone. The next steps in the investigation should serve as an example of Ukraine’s unwavering position in protecting its citizens.
