An important meeting of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities was held online, chaired by the President of Ukraine. During the report, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine outlined the operational and strategic situation at the front and focused on issues related to engineering fortifications, which are critical to the defence of our country, Time Ukraine Israel reports, citing the Facebook page of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The frontline: 1170 km of active hostilities
As of 17 December this year, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are actively engaged in combat operations on the frontline, which stretches over 1,170 kilometres. The most tense situation is currently observed at the Pokrovske and Kurakhove directions, where the enemy is using increasingly aggressive methods of offensive. In addition, the pressure of Russian troops on the Kramatorsk, Toretsk and Vremivsk directions has significantly increased.
In particular, for the third day in a row, the enemy has been conducting intensive offensive operations in Kursk region, trying to force units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces out of the Russian Federation. In these actions, units of the North Korean army are actively involved, which suffered significant losses during the clashes.
Emphasis on the importance of engineering fortifications
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also stressed that in the context of such intense hostilities, it is extremely important to build and strengthen engineering fortifications. In the conditions of war, when every centimetre of land is worth its weight in gold, these structures become not only protection for the military, but also an important element in deterring the enemy offensive. It is noted that the final stage of construction of fortifications is currently underway. The first two phases have been completed, and now the Armed Forces are fulfilling their tasks, while at the same time experiencing significant pressure to complete the work.
Joint work of the state and local authorities
The construction of military engineering and fortifications is being carried out by 21 regional military administrations and contractors. However, as the Commander-in-Chief noted, it is necessary to intensify the work, especially in the seven regions that must increase their efforts in the area of fortifications. This task requires maximum coordination between military and civilian structures.
The President of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the heads of regional administrations and civilians for their fruitful cooperation and logistical assistance to the engineering units. However, he stressed the need to intensify the work of local authorities to speed up the construction of fortifications, especially in terms of their echeloning in depth.
Consolidating efforts to win
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stressed that now, more than ever, the country must be united in supporting the Defence Forces. The cohesion of all levels of government is critical to ensure effective defence and save the lives of every Ukrainian soldier. As he noted, this area of work requires maximum consolidation of efforts to deter the enemy’s offensive and protect the Ukrainian land.
Glory to Ukraine!
