17 October 2024 marks the 377th day of the Iron Swords War, which Israel is waging against terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon and Syria. The conflict, which began on 7 October 2023, continues to escalate, covering several theatres of operations simultaneously. This was reported by newsru.co.il.
Fighting in Lebanon and Gaza
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) are conducting active combat operations in Lebanon. The Israeli Air Force strikes at targets in Lebanon, while the Hezbollah terrorist group continues to fire rockets at Israeli territory and uses drones for attacks. At night, targets were struck in the Syrian city of Latakia, located in the north-west of the country, and fighting continues in the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria.

An air alert was declared in the settlements of Metula, Misgav Am and Kfar Giladi, near the border with Lebanon. A rocket attack was preliminarily recorded. According to Lebanese sources, the Israeli Air Force struck a building in the city of Tamin al-Tahta, located in the eastern part of Lebanon, in the Bekaa district. Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority sources reported the death of a woman in the village of Fakoua near Jenin. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the incident.

The Israeli military reports the destruction of several terrorist groups in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours. Significant fighting took place in the north, centre and south of the region. Nahal Brigade forces eliminated armed militants and terrorist infrastructure in the Rafiah area in the south. The 252nd Sinai Armoured Division continues to operate in the central part of the sector. In the north, soldiers of the 401st Brigade eliminated a group of terrorists and seized a large number of weapons, including grenades, mortars and Kalashnikovs.
In Lebanon, according to the IDF, the commander of the Hezbollah battalion, Hassin Muhammad Uja, was killed. In total, more than 45 terrorists were killed in southern Lebanon over the past day, and the IDF struck more than 150 Hezbollah targets, including weapons depots and rocket launchers.

Lebanese sources report that the Israeli Air Force has struck a target in the Aankoun area, southeast of Saida, 30 km from the Israeli border. At the same time, Israeli artillery shelled targets in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas says eight people were killed in an air strike on a house in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood, southwest of Gaza City. In the Upper Galilee, near the border with Lebanon, air raid warnings were also heard and rocket fire was reported.
