Saturday, 9 November 2024, marks the 400th day of the Iron Swords War, in which Israel is confronting terrorist groups in Gaza, Judea, Samaria, Lebanon and Syria. The war began on 7 October 2023 after a large-scale terrorist attack on Israeli territory. This was reported by TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to Newsru.co.il.
Attacks on terrorist targets in Lebanon and Gaza
Since the beginning of the day, the Israeli Air Force has been striking terrorist infrastructure in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, while IDF forces continue operations in Judea and Samaria. In response, pro-Iranian groups, including Hezbollah, fire missiles and drones at Israeli territory.
Timeline of events on 9 November 2024
12:00: Following an alert in the Upper and Western Galilee, the IDF reported five rockets fired from Lebanon. Several of the rockets were intercepted, while others landed in unpopulated areas. There were no casualties.
11:00: Palestinian sources say that a terrorist was killed during an IDF operation in eastern Samaria, and two suspects were detained.
09:00: An alarm was sounded in the Upper and Western Galilee. Another five rockets were fired from Lebanon; some of them were shot down, others fell in the open.
08:00: Alarms have been sounded in a number of settlements in northern Israel, including Alma, Rechania, Avivim and Safed.
07:00: A “Tzevah Adom” signal was heard in the Manara area near the Lebanese border. IDF confirms overnight attacks on Hezbollah headquarters and other targets in southern Beirut, stressing that every effort was made to minimise civilian casualties.
Continued hostilities in Gaza
The IDF reports that its troops are continuing ground operations in the Gaza Strip. The 162nd Division is operating in the Jabaliya area, in the north of the Strip, destroying terrorists and weapons depots. Soldiers of the Nahal Brigade continue to fight in Rafah, eliminating militants and destroying terrorist infrastructure.
05:00: According to Palestinian sources, Israeli forces are conducting an operation in the towns of Shueika and Iqtaba near Tul Karem.
Shelling and air battles in northern Israel
04:00: Israeli troops are operating in Tul Karem and nearby villages.
03:00: IDF forces entered Qubar, north of Ramallah, where they searched the home of a former Hamas leader. An alarm was sounded in the northern Golan Heights, but it turned out to be a false alarm.
Intensity of the conflict
Over the past 24 hours, the Israeli Air Force has struck dozens of targets in Lebanon, including military depots and missile launchers. Alarms also sounded in northwestern Israel, where drones launched from Lebanon and Iraq were intercepted.

Background to the Iron Swords War
The war began on 7 October 2023, when terrorists launched a massive shelling of central Israel from Gaza. More than a thousand civilians, as well as soldiers, were killed, and many people remain in captivity in Gaza. Since then, Israel has been conducting large-scale military operations to destroy terrorist cells.
