Journalists of Skhemy (Radio Liberty ), in cooperation with NV, found that in 2021-2022, the wife of Artem Shilo, a former advisor to the Office of the President and an SBU employee, Iryna Shilo, purchased real estate in Dubai (UAE) worth more than $4.3 million.
According to the investigation, published on 3 April, from December 2021 to June 2022, Iryna Shylo purchased eight apartments in the Al Barsha South Fourth residential area, as well as a 178 square metre hotel room in the prestigious Jumeirah Gate Tower 2 complex located in Marsa Dubai on the Arabian Gulf coast.
According to a Dubai leak, the total cost of the apartments was approximately $2.3 million, and the hotel room was worth another $2 million.
As of today, according to journalists, Shil’s family no longer owns this property – it was sold between September 2022 and September 2024.
Artem Shilo is a defendant in the case of a scheme to misappropriate almost UAH 100 million during the procurement of Ukrzaliznytsia. He neither denied nor confirmed the acquisition of the Dubai property in a commentary to journalists, noting only that he did not work for the SBU at the time and promised to declare the property after the end of martial law.
This investigation adds another layer to a series of high-profile cases of alleged illicit enrichment of Ukrainian officials and their relatives amid the war and economic crisis.
