An ultimatum from a Trump ally: Senator J.D. Vance calls on Ukraine and Russia to “say yes” to peace

Republican Senator J.D. Vance, one of Donald Trump’s main allies, said it was time for Ukraine and Russia to say yes to a peace deal. In his speech, he called the continuation of the war “endless” and stressed that the United States should stop funding the conflict without a clear strategy for victory. This was reported by AFP and The Moscow Times.

Vance also criticised the Democratic Biden administration for its “endless support” and actually voiced the conditions for peace according to Trump’s logic: a freeze on the conflict, territorial concessions, and Ukraine’s neutrality.

“The time has come for both sides to come to the table and say yes. Because the continuation of this war is a tragedy without end,” the senator said.

Ukrainian context: Such statements are an unofficial signal to Kyiv that if Trump returns to power, US support may be limited or conditional. At the same time, Ukraine stresses that there can be no concessions on the Kremlin’s terms.
