Trump emphasises that ending the war in Ukraine will be his priority. He has already appointed a special envoy on this issue, retired Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg, who has previously suggested that the occupied Ukrainian territories be handed over to Russia.

European military and political leaders have warned that a peace deal that grants Russia too many concessions could only fuel future conflicts. Instead, a lasting peace is only possible if Ukraine receives all the resources it needs to negotiate from a position of strength and deter Russian aggression.
