Russia’s aggression goes far beyond Ukraine and poses a direct threat to the people of the UK. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, in his column for the Daily Mail.
“Putin’s aggression does not stop at Ukraine’s borders. It threatens us here at home. Only seven years have passed since the Salisbury attack, and Russian reconnaissance ships are already threatening our waters, planes are flying into our airspace, and cyberattacks on the National Health Service are endangering people’s lives,” the Prime Minister stressed.
Starmer stressed that the British cannot ignore this threat. According to him, citizens have already felt the impact of Russian aggression through rising prices and tariffs, and if Ukraine does not receive proper protection, instability in Europe will only increase.
“History has proven that tyrants like Putin respond only to force. So this is how we must meet the challenges of this new era – with strength,” he said.
As a reminder, the UK has decided to increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2027 and aims to reach 3% in the long term.
