The US Central Intelligence Agency has offered all its employees to voluntarily resign with an eight-month severance package. The Wall Street Journal reports this with reference to officials.
The CIA has become the first intelligence agency to implement the Donald Trump administration’s initiative to downsize the federal government. The agency has also stopped hiring candidates who have already received conditional offers.
According to CIA Director John Ratcliffe, some of these offers may be cancelled if the candidates do not meet the agency’s new priorities focused on countering China.
At the end of January, NBC reported that the Trump administration was offering an eight-month severance package to civil servants who agree to leave their jobs. It is expected that up to 10% of federal officials will accept the offer, which will save billions of dollars in the budget.
