Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has expressed dissatisfaction with US rhetoric following the visit of US Vice President J.D. Vance to a military base in Greenland. In his video message, the diplomat called on the United States to reconsider the tone of communication with its allies, Politico reports.

“There have been a lot of accusations and statements. We are open to criticism, but we don’t like the way it sounds. This is not the way to talk to close allies,” Rasmussen said.

He acknowledged that Copenhagen is ready to discuss the expansion of the US military presence in the Arctic, but reminded that Denmark and the US have a long-standing partnership in NATO.

The US criticism came after Vance accused Denmark of not protecting Greenland enough. Rasmussen responded that the world had long considered the Arctic a stable region, but that those days are over.

As reported by Time Ukraine Israel, US Vice President James DeVance, during a visit to the US military base in Pituffik in Greenland, accused Denmark of poorly defending the Arctic island, which US President Donald Trump wants to take under his jurisdiction.
