On his first day in office, US President Donald Trump announced a list of candidates for key positions in his administration. This was reported on the official website of the White House.
Key candidates
Trump has nominated representatives from different states to lead key agencies:
- The Ministry of Finance: Scott Bessent (South Carolina)
- Attorney General: Pamela Bondi (Florida)
- Department of Defence: Peter Hegseth (Tennessee)
- Secretary of State: Marco Rubio (Florida)
- Department of Health and Human Services: Robert F. Kennedy Jr (California)
- Director of National Intelligence: Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii)
- Representative of the United States to the United Nations: Alice Stefanik (New York)
- Director of the CIA: John Ratcliffe (Texas).
Approval process
All nominees must be confirmed by the US Congress before being officially appointed. The Senate debate is expected to focus on the candidates’ political experience and suitability for the positions.
