US President-elect Donald Trump has made an unexpected appointment, announcing that Caroline Levitt, a 27-year-old politician and communications expert, will take up the post of White House press secretary. She will thus become the youngest person in US history to hold this position, Reuters reports .
“Caroline is a smart, strong and extremely effective communicator. She performed admirably during my campaign, and I am confident that she will do a brilliant job in the White House,” Trump said in his official statement.
A new record for the White House
Levitt surpassed the previous record held by Ron Ziegler, who was appointed press secretary at the age of 29 in the Richard Nixon administration.
Caroline is a native of New Hampshire and has extensive experience in the political sphere. She worked in Congress as a communications advisor to Congresswoman Alice Stefanik, who is currently the US Ambassador to the United Nations. In 2022, Levitt ran for the House of Representatives but lost to Democrat Chris Pappas. Despite her defeat, her abilities and determination caught the attention of Donald Trump.
Main responsibilities
In her new role, Caroline Levitt will be responsible for communicating with the American people and providing daily briefings to journalists. Her task is to convey the administration’s key messages while remaining loyal to the president.
“Caroline will demonstrate her talent on the microphone, helping to spread our ideas and restore America’s greatness,” Trump said.
A new communications team with a new format
Levitt will work closely with Stephen Chang, who served as communications director during Trump’s campaign and will remain in that position at the White House. The new generation of Trump’s communications team is designed to effectively communicate the administration’s political messages to the public.
Caroline Leavitt will be one of the key figures in the Trump administration, which is known for its unconventional approach to appointments. Her energy and experience can significantly enhance the White House’s communication potential.
