Washington. US businessmen Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will be given key roles in a new advisory body in the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump – the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE). According to The Hill, on 12 November, Trump announced that Musk and Ramaswamy would lead efforts to deregulate, cut unnecessary spending and optimise the work of federal agencies.
DOGE, a new advisory department created to improve management efficiency, will work with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget. Trump explained that this body would operate outside the government structure, providing guidance on streamlining processes and spending. According to him, it will help “cut red tape, reduce overregulation and wasteful spending, and reform federal agencies”.
“Together, these great Americans will pave the way for maximum government efficiency while protecting the interests of every taxpayer,” Trump said.
In addition, Trump has announced his intention to appoint former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, indicating his desire to strengthen oversight of the intelligence agencies. He is also considering Republican Senator Marco Rubio to lead the State Department, reflecting his intention to strengthen his foreign policy team.
These appointments underscore Trump’s commitment to revamping federal agencies and making them more efficient by bringing in successful businessmen and experienced managers from the private sector.
