Billionaire Elon Musk, who headed the US Department of Government Efficiency, has announced that he is retiring from politics and returning to business management. Thiswas reported byThe Washington Post.

According to Musk, he decided to focus on the development of his key companies, Tesla and SpaceX, after sharp public criticism and a drop in revenues caused by his political activity.

“I believe I’ve done enough,” Musk said, adding that he no longer plans to actively fund political projects “unless there is an extraordinary reason”.

Over the past year, Musk has publicly supported Donald Trump’s initiatives, investing more than $288 million in his election campaign and in the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency, which has made large-scale cuts in the federal apparatus.

However, this activity later backfired on the businessman, as reputational losses, declining company profits, and growing threats to his security forced Musk to reconsider his priorities.

Musk is now fully focused on high-tech developments:

  • Tesla is planning to launch an autonomous car in June and is also working on Cybercab, an unmanned electric car without a steering wheel or pedals.
  • SpaceX is preparing a test launch of the Starship next week, and is also developing a mission to Mars in 2026 and NASA’s Artemis project, which aims to land on the moon by 2027.

Analysts believe that Musk’s departure from politics could be a serious blow to the Republican Party, which has relied heavily on his financial support and infrastructure.
