Billionaire Elon Musk has officially announced the end of his work as a special adviser to US President Donald Trump and head of the newly created Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE). His departure marks the end of a controversial period of reforms aimed at reducing government spending and bureaucracy.
In a message posted on his social media platform X, Musk thanked President Trump for the “opportunity to cut wasteful spending” and expressed confidence in the continued growth of DOGE initiatives:
“DOGE’s mission will only grow stronger over time as it becomes a way of life in government.”
According to information obtained by the Associated Press from a White House source, Musk ended his mission ahead of schedule, facing widespread resistance from government agencies and internal conflicts with other advisers. Although his initial ambition was to cut spending by $2 trillion, the actual figures were more modest – around $150 billion.
Despite the controversy, Musk’s supporters praise his radical approach to public administration reform, while critics warn of the long-term consequences of chaotic cuts.
According to his own statements, Musk plans to focus on his companies, Tesla and SpaceX, as well as on the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
