An exhibit to raise awareness of the hostages held in Gaza during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on 20 August 2024: Times of Israel.
The families of seven American citizens still held captive in the Gaza Strip have appealed to US President-elect Donald Trump for support. They ask that he begin to cooperate with the administration of President Joe Biden to return their loved ones. This was reported by TimeUkraineIsrael with reference to the Times of Israel.
The joint statement issued by the families emphasises the urgency of the situation, which is a humanitarian catastrophe. “This is an urgent, catastrophic humanitarian crisis, not a party issue,” they said.
The families are calling for a bipartisan coalition to unite Republicans and Democrats in efforts to free the hostages. “Our loved ones in captivity need a coalition of dedicated and courageous leaders to bring them home,” the statement reads.
The hostages, in their opinion, cannot wait any longer: “They are relying on us, on our actions and on responsible leaders of both parties to seize this moment.”
