Germany continues to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. Berlin has decided to supply another 60 guided missiles to strengthen its air defence, DBwV reports. The cost of the missiles, which will be delivered from Bundeswehr warehouses, is 60 million euros.

This decision was made despite the uncertainty of funding due to the difficult budget situation in the country.

Visit of Boris Pistorius to Kyiv

On Tuesday, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Kyiv. He assured the Ukrainian leadership of Germany’s continued support, particularly after the early parliamentary elections scheduled for 23 February.

Pistorius also expressed hope that Germany would find a way to provide Ukraine with an additional aid package worth €3 billion. Negotiations on this issue are currently underway, as the government has not yet adopted a budget for 2025 due to the collapse of the coalition of Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals.

“This is just a budget problem that the government has to solve. And we are working on it,” the minister said, expressing optimism that the process will be completed successfully.

New weapons on the battlefield

This week, Germany handed over to Ukraine the first RCH 155 self-propelled artillery system developed by the German-Dutch company KNDS. This is only part of a large-scale package that includes the delivery of 50 more such systems.

A leader in military support in Europe

Germany remains the largest military donor to Ukraine among European countries. According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, Berlin has provided Kyiv with military aid worth 11 billion euros. At the global level, only the United States provides more aid to Ukraine than Germany.
