An Israeli strike on a nuclear facility in Isfahan damaged at least four critical buildings, including uranium conversion and fuel plate production plants. This was reported by the IAEA.

“Based on the information available to the IAEA, yesterday’s attack damaged four critical buildings at the Isfahan nuclear facility, including the uranium conversion plant and the fuel plate fabrication plant,” the agency said in a post on Twitter.

The International Atomic Energy Agency stressed that, according to the Iranian nuclear regulator, radiation levels outside the complex remain within normal limits and do not pose a threat to the public.

The Isfahan facility is one of the key elements of Iran’s nuclear programme. It converts uranium into the gaseous form of UF6 – necessary for enrichment – and manufactures fuel plates for nuclear reactors.

This incident took place against the backdrop of rising tensions between Israel and Iran, following the exchange of strikes on the territory of both countries. Official Tel Aviv has not commented on the responsibility for the attack, but according to a number of media outlets, it was Israel that carried out the targeted strike on the facility in Isfahan.
