Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will not go to Moscow to celebrate 9 May, despite a previously confirmed invitation from the Russian side. This was reported by The New Indian Express.

According to sources, the decision was made at the last minute and has already been communicated to the Kremlin. Although no official reason for the refusal has been given, analysts see it as a diplomatic gesture amid Russia’s aggressive policy and Moscow’s international isolation.

Singh was expected to take part in the Victory Parade in the Russian capital, but India decided not to advertise its presence at the event, which is a propaganda event in the midst of a full-scale war against Ukraine.

India maintains its traditional ties with Russia, particularly in the military sphere, but at the same time is strengthening cooperation with the US, EU and Ukraine, maintaining a neutrality that is increasingly becoming critical.
