Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said on Monday that Tehran would soon submit a counter-proposal to the United States via Oman on the nuclear deal. This was reported by Reuters.

According to the Iranian diplomat, the current US proposal does not take into account Tehran’s key positions, in particular, uranium enrichment in Iran, export of existing stocks of highly enriched uranium abroad, and the gradual lifting of US sanctions.

“The US proposal is unacceptable to us. It was not the result of previous rounds of negotiations. We will present our own proposal to the other side through Oman after it is finalised,” Bahai said.

He stressed that the Iranian proposal would be “reasonable, logical and balanced”. At the same time, there are no details on the date of the sixth round of talks.

The nuclear deal between Iran and the United States, which has remained in the centre of global attention since Washington withdrew from it in 2018, is once again gaining relevance amid regional tensions and attempts at a diplomatic breakthrough.
