The Iranian state press on Friday showed rare footage of an underground missile storage facility inspected by the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), General Hossein Salami. According to the Daily Mail, the images were shown on the state-run IRIB television channel.
The video shows Salami and Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh inspecting the military base. In his address to the troops, Salami stressed the growth of the country’s missile capabilities.
“Every day the number of systems and missiles is increasing in the most remote corners of our land,” he said.
“The enemy may have thought that our production capability was frozen, but the growth rate of our missile capability remains at the highest level,” the general added.
The exact time and place of the filming were not disclosed. However, Mehr News reported that some of Iran’s operations against Israel in October and April this year were carried out using this underground base.
During his speech in Abadan, in southwestern Iran, Salami also announced the development of “new special missiles” by the IRGC Aerospace Command.
These statements and the demonstration of military facilities indicate Iran’s efforts to strengthen its defence capabilities and influence in the region.
