Venice authorities have issued a statement regarding the wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and journalist Lauren Sanchez, scheduled for the end of June. Representatives of the city council denied information about a loud three-day celebration, which was supposed to include 250 guests every night and large-scale closures of parts of the city. This was reported by Forbes.
According to an official statement from the municipality, the event will be much more modest: “Only 200 guests are invited. Venice regularly hosts events much bigger than this, so there will be no inconvenience to citizens and tourists.”
Earlier, the Italian media reported that five luxury hotels, a flotilla of water taxis and a mooring for Bezos’ mega-yacht had been reserved for the wedding. The city authorities denied these claims, emphasising that no significant restrictions are expected for the public.
Venice Mayor Luigi Bruniaro praised the choice of the city for the wedding, noting that the event will bring millions in economic benefits to the region.
