During a visit to North Korea by Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, DPRK leader Kim Jong Un expressed unconditional support for Russia’s foreign policy, particularly on the Ukrainian issue. This was reported by the North Korean KCNA news agency.
“The DPRK will provide Russia with its unconditional support in all key international affairs, including the Ukrainian dossier,” Kim said.
He also stressed his confidence in Russia’s victory in the “sacred cause of justice”.
Shoigu’s visit was another step in the rapid rapprochement between Moscow and Pyongyang amid the war in Ukraine. According to media reports, North Korea not only transferred weapons to Russia, but also sent thousands of soldiers, in particular to fight in the Kursk region.
Last year’s agreements between Putin and Kim include a mutual defence treaty, marking a new stage in the military alliance between the two isolated states.
