On the night of 26 February, Ukrainian drones attacked the port of Tuapse and a number of facilities in the Krasnodar region. The explosions heard over the city were recorded by local residents, and videos of the aftermath of the strikes were posted on social media.
The port in Tuapse was damaged
Eyewitnesses report that the main target of the attack was the seaport on the Black Sea coast. The Russian governor of the region, Veniamin Kondratiev, said that private houses in Tuapse and Temryuk district were damaged, assuring that there were no casualties.
Explosions over Anapa and annexed Crimea
Russian Telegram channels also reported explosions in the skies over Anapa, where they claimed an air defence system was operating. The Sochi airport temporarily introduced the “Carpet” plan, which suspended the arrival and departure of flights.
Russian Defence Ministry claims large-scale attack
The Russian military claims that 128 drones were shot down overnight over Russian territory, Crimea and the Black and Azov Seas. According to official figures:
- 83 drones shot down over Krasnodar Territory
- 30 – over Crimea
- 8 – over the Sea of Azov
- 5 – over the Black Sea
- 1 – over the Bryansk region
- 1 – over the Kursk region
