NATO Secretary General Rutte warns China, India and Brazil against secondary sanctions for cooperation with Russia

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Wednesday that Brazil, China and India could suffer serious economic consequences if they continue to cooperate with Russia despite international sanctions, Reuters reports .

“I urge these three countries in particular to pay attention, because this could hit you very hard. So please call Vladimir Putin and tell him that he has to take the peace talks seriously, because otherwise it will hit Brazil, India and China very hard,” Rutte told reporters after the meeting with the US senators.

Rutte also stressed that Europe is mobilising financial resources to ensure Ukraine’s best negotiating position. According to him, under an agreement with US President Donald Trump, the United States will supply Ukraine with weapons in large quantities – not only air defence systems, but also missiles and ammunition purchased by Europeans.

Answering the question about providing Ukraine with long-range missiles, he noted that this decision is currently being worked out by the Pentagon in cooperation with NATO commanders and the Ukrainian side.
